The FAST Cloud Is Expanding

Today, cloud services are available to all FAST 8x customers.  One of the biggest advantages it provides is a virtual development environment for building and testing new applications.  FAST Insurance Components are also running on the cloud – being utilized by thousands of Producers who can easily access the data they need to run their individual businesses.  And with FAST managing the cloud service, the firm can focus on their core business and easily scale as they grow, without needing to absorb traditional IT infrastructure expenses.

As we look to the future, the cloud will continue to be an integral part of how FAST delivers value to its customers.  Today, FAST is currently supplying most of the content for its cloud.  CEO Tom Famularo’s vision is that through partnerships and an open environment, FAST will begin offering apps from other vendors, carriers, or any person in a garage with ideas for business applications and access to the internet.  This vision is quickly becoming reality as a new healthcare software company has already taken this path – utilizing FAST 8x technology to build and host applications on FAST’s cloud, for hospitals looking to improve their quality control and efficiency.   FAST’s Service Oriented Architecture and true component-based approach allowed them to re-use and apply a number of existing components to their system so it achieved the functionality it needed to deliver – all with minimal coding and testing.  Roy Stephan, Director of IT architecture and engineering – Intelligent Decisions may have said it best, “with the cloud, individuals and small businesses can snap their fingers and instantly set up enterprise-class services.”

“Cloud computing is empowering, as anyone in any part of world with Internet connection and a credit card can run and manage applications in the state of the art global data centers; companies leveraging cloud will be able to innovate cheaper and faster.” says Jamal Mazhar, Founder and CEO of Kaavo.

FAST has chosen Amazon Web Services, AWS, as its provider for a host of reasons including their flexibility, scalability, cost, and more than 15 years of experience delivering large scale infrastructure in a reliable, secure manner.  By running on the AWS platform, FAST and its customers can access on-demand, cost-effective infrastructure solutions and subsequently save time, money, and resources.  AWS views these benefits as why enterprise organizations see cloud computing as a powerful next step in their IT infrastructure evolution.
